This section outlines the versioning system used for Talman Wool System updates.
There are three main release types:
1. Major release Frequency: Once every year Description: The first four digits will changes when the year changes Example: 2006.0.0
2. Upgrade release Frequency: Every 3-4 months Description: The digit after the first decimal will change and will represent the month in which the upgrade is released Example: 2006.3.0 (if released in March)
3. Patch release Frequency: As required, targetted for every month on average Description: The digit after the second decimal will change and will represent the month in which the patch is released Example: 2006.3.4 (if a patch is released in April, and is a patch to the March Upgrade release) Example: 2006.0.3 (if a patch is released in February and there was no Upgrade release in between)
Recent example A recent release is 2006.5.09 This is a Patch release (released in September ie .09) to the May Upgrade (.5) release for the 2006 Major release.
The version number is used on: 1. Installers (New, Upgrade, Patches)
2. Documents a. Release notes b. Other support documents
3. Web site downloads
