There has been some discussion in the industry from wool buyers who use TEAM results extensively. The following is an extract from a letter sent by Talman Operations Manager Tony Smith to WoolBuyer clients:
"Most of your systems have now been updated with the version 29 release which include Team 3 options.
Our original plan was to convert existing team 2 results to Team 3.
However, at the last WIEDPUG meeting, some members indicated that under no circumstances should core certificate hauteur or other results be changed. Your representative, Peter Morgan, also indicated that software houses should not change data under any circumstances.
After discussions with various people in the industry, Talman has decided not make any changes to coretest data at this stage.
One of the major issues concerning changing existing Team 2 results to Team 3 is the invoicing of lots to local buyers. Lots which are sold to local exporters/buyers, could be transmitted with the wrong hauteur results.
We strongly suggest that you discuss the ramifications of Team 2 v Team 3 with your WIEDPUG representative, Peter Morgan, as converting Team 2 results will be against his and AWTA’s recommendations. "
Talman's suggested solution Talman has suggested that a good solution to the problem would be for AWTA to supply updated Length/Strength certificates to all brokers and exporters who request them. The new certificates would have TEAM 3 results and a post 1 July 2006 date. Brokers/Buyers only need send the Test request transmission to AWTA and then pick up the recalculated results. Talman is suggesting that AWTA should supply these updated certificates free of charge.
